Atlantic Highlands Education Center
Empowered Learning Transformation Centers
The Empowered Learning Transformation Centers strives to provide high-quality early childhood education and early intervention for children with and without disabilities in an inclusive educational setting. The inclusion model creates an environment whereby each child is able to receive the support they need in the same classroom as their developing peers – to learn, develop, and enjoy positive interactions with one other. Empowered Learning Transformation Centers provides all children with opportunities to understand and respect individual differences. Our center focuses on early identification and intervention to address developmental concerns during the critical first five years of life, in order to provide the maximum impact and outcomes possible.
The Empowered Learning Transformation Centers flagship early education program in Atlantic Highlands, NJ and is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). NAEYC is the gold standard for early education across the country and only a few programs in the District of Columbia have reached this standard.
The Division for Early Childhood (DEC) and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) recommend the “inclusion” method as the best practice model for early childhood education and intervention. Using the evidence-based Creative Curriculum and corresponding outcome measurement system, Empowered Learning Transformation Centers is able to provide a play-centered environment with individualized instruction, which helps each child reach his or her greatest possible potential.
Empowered Learning Transformation Centers employs a staff of highly qualified professionals, and classroom staff and clinicians are uniquely trained to work in our specially designed programs.
A unique hallmark of the Empowered Learning Transformation Centers program is the availability of licensed professional therapists (Occupational, Physical, and Speech-Language), Registered Nurses and Licensed Social Workers, to create an interdisciplinary team approach to meeting each child’s individual needs. One of the most essential aspects of the program is the integration of therapy and clinical services into daily classroom activities. Our comprehensive “wrap around” services are designed to maximize each child’s development and prevent or reduce the need for additional services later in life. We provide parents with resources to help them become strong advocates for their children, and we work together to plan for a developmentally appropriate, inclusive and meaningful transition into public schools.
Empowered Learning Transformation Centers Therapy Program
Empowered Learning Transformation Centers clinical team is comprised of highly skilled clinicians with vast levels of experience. Many of our therapists hold specialty certifications in infant and child development, sensory integration, and are certified clinical instructors. The core principals of our clinical team include: Evidence Based Practice (EBP), inclusion, promotion of independence, and ensuring that each child reaches his or her potential.
Our diverse treatment strategies frequently include family and staff training, use of assistive technology (such as iPads), neuromuscular re-education, manual therapy, casting and bracing, gait training, sensory integration and infant massage – to name a few. In order to ensure positive therapeutic outcomes, our clinicians maintain open communication with our families in order to update them on their child’s progress and modify intervention strategies as needed. Through frequent collaboration with teaching staff during scheduled interdisciplinary meetings, our clinicians monitor the child’s ability to carryover skills in a multitude of settings, as well as support the child’s normal development – both in the program, and as they transition to elementary education.
